In 2016 creative music programme ‘ArtsTrain’ started a programme of work to inspire and challenge young artists to create a new collaborative body of work responding to the theme of ‘Gentrification’. The creative brief was set by MOBO Award winning artist Soweto Kinch and the programme was lead by legendary singer songwriter Eska and composer and producer James Yarde. The project took a philosophical and artistic look at the very topical issue of gentrification within the UK.

On each year of this project we learn more about collaborative music-making, and our artists benefit from the exposure to working with different groups of emerging musicians from different musical backgrounds who bring fresh ideas which informs their practice. We would love hear about other organisations and creative projects to develop this theme and or way of working to produce more exciting original material.
